  • Saturday, August 5, 8:00 p.m. Emmet Cahill Performance at the Whitneyville Cultural Commons in Hamden

  • Sony Music recording artist and Celtic Thunder lead singer Emmet Cahill makes his first solo appearance in Hamden on August 5th to perform songs from his debut orchestral album,“Emmet Cahill’s Ireland.” His album reached #1 on the Amazon, iTunes and “Billboard” World Music charts and offers the very best of the traditional Irish repertoire. Song selections include: “Danny Boy,” “Toora Loora Loora – An Irish Lullaby,” “My Cavan Girl,” “When Irish Eyes are Smiling,” “The Parting Glass” and more. Emmet’s concert will also include Broadway favorites, movie hits, folk classics and gospel songs, plus an occasional operatic aria that will showcase his classical vocal training received at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin.   • Sunday, February 4, 2018, 2 – 3pm , World War I and Irish Independence Lecture

  • Presented by Dr. John Day Tully who holds degrees from Boston University, Central Connecticut State University and Ohio State University. Dr. Tully’s presentation will center on the impact of World War I on Irish opinion and how it accelerated nationalists’ timetable in the struggle for independence from the United Kingdom. At a time when many Irishmen volunteered with the British Army, others organized the 1916 Irish Rebellion (Easter Rising). Dr. Tully will explore the various Irish responses to the war as well as Irish American efforts to support Irish independence during the conflict.
    The lecture will be held at the Knights of Columbus Museum, One State Street, New Haven, CT 06511
